No wish conceived, no thought expressed. Just a place between work, life and rest.

Work life balance is so important…easier said than done though, right?

Lately I’ve been feeling overwhelmed with everything it seems: work, finances, love, living, health, anti-aging, instagram algorithms (🙄) you name it. I’m not ashamed to say I’ve been going through some personal struggles, and it usually tends to happen around the holiday season for some freaking reason. This has resulted in nothing but extremely tense shoulders and a horrible case of acne, while desperately trying not to fall behind on work. Through all this I’ve learned that I still need to take time for self care (i.e. renew my Massage Envy membership), and literally smell the roses…

It started with wanting something to retreat to once I came home from work. I began visiting the Diptyque shop often and lighting candles at home, instantly realizing how nice a good quality candle is… So I became enthralled by the world of fragrance. I’ve grown to love learning about the notes, and it evolved into this fascination with perfume, and how it mixes with the chemicals of your body. I wake up looking forward to pairing a scent with my mood, and exploring how it changes on my skin throughout the day. No joke, this is like my new obsession. Scent is powerful in that it has the ability to transport you to an entirely different time and place, even if it’s somewhere you’ve never been before. It’s like a little escape. My collection of perfumes and candles is growing, and I’ve recently added Byredo and Le Labo to the mix. What are you favorite scents? And how do you escape from everyday stresses? Are you happy with your work/life balance, and have you found any hobbies that help? Don’t be shy – comment below or DM me on Instagram!

I have been feeling very much the same of late, trying to find the right balance between my work and the children. It’s incredibly hard but I’m hoping time off over Christmas gives me a much needed boost.

My favorite candle scent (I’m not perfume kinda woman) is wood or forest or any ocean breeze scents as candle. Because it reminds me of that I’m in nature and peaceful, and relaxing to me. I do escape from everyday stress by drinking tea and listen to calm music at night time that works for me 🙂 Love your pink suit!

Our family quit Christmas twelve years ago and it’s been the best decision we’ve ever made. We don’t give gifts and instead simply get together for a wonderful meal and a game (or three) of cards. I can’t tell you what peace it’s brought to this time of year. We then take that money and spend it on extra fun events during the year. x

I think a work life balance is important but when you work at home having a release is important, fragrance can definitely be transporting.

Everyone can use a moment to step back out of their busy lives, thank you for sharing your personal story. I have never tried using candles to relax but it seems like a great idea!

  • Aditi Tandon

Love the pink suit! Makes you look glam and serene! I agree- candles , especially the ones that smell great are very therapeutic!

  • I love your pics always so well thought out and beautifully created. Loving the pink power suit.

  • I’m obsessed with candles and different scents, too. Scents are indeed very powerful. Some scents remind me of some people I didn’t see for a while.:-) Btw, I love the suit.

It seems as though the whole idea of balancing work and our personal life is on everyone’s mind. Sad to say, it’s impossible. We just can’t possibly know if our little one will get sick or if the Instagram algorithms change yet again. I love that you found a stop over after work to raise your vibrations. Smart lady!
