Out (In) of Office

No wish conceived, no thought expressed. Just a place between work, life and rest.

Work life balance is so important…easier said than done though, right?

Lately I’ve been feeling overwhelmed with everything it seems: work, finances, love, living, health, anti-aging, instagram algorithms (🙄) you name it. I’m not ashamed to say I’ve been going through some personal struggles, and it usually tends to happen around the holiday season for some freaking reason. This has resulted in nothing but extremely tense shoulders and a horrible case of acne, while desperately trying not to fall behind on work. Through all this I’ve learned that I still need to take time for self care (i.e. renew my Massage Envy membership), and literally smell the roses…

It started with wanting something to retreat to once I came home from work. I began visiting the Diptyque shop often and lighting candles at home, instantly realizing how nice a good quality candle is… So I became enthralled by the world of fragrance. I’ve grown to love learning about the notes, and it evolved into this fascination with perfume, and how it mixes with the chemicals of your body. I wake up looking forward to pairing a scent with my mood, and exploring how it changes on my skin throughout the day. No joke, this is like my new obsession. Scent is powerful in that it has the ability to transport you to an entirely different time and place, even if it’s somewhere you’ve never been before. It’s like a little escape. My collection of perfumes and candles is growing, and I’ve recently added Byredo and Le Labo to the mix. What are you favorite scents? And how do you escape from everyday stresses? Are you happy with your work/life balance, and have you found any hobbies that help? Don’t be shy – comment below or DM me on Instagram!

Field of Dreams

“All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream” – Edgar Allen Poe

What do you dream about at night? And what do you dream of accomplishing when you’re awake? Do you ever make your dreams come true? I used to write all my dreams down first thing in the morning, while they were fresh in my head, and am trying to get back into the habit of doing just that. It’s super therapeutic, and really interesting to read through after some time’s passed. My dream journal has crazy etchings about tidal waves, chases, armies, you name it. When it comes to dreams and aspirations in the waking-life however, the visions are not as over-the-top, and well, the cynic in me takes the reins. I am definitely more reserved with goals that I set for myself. Why? Simple. I dread disappointment. I’m afraid of aiming too high. What if I don’t reach that goal? What if I can’t for the life of me, make that dream come true? Even worse, what if I’m not good enough? I’m open to any advice you guys have on coping with self-doubt. It’s something I’ve struggled with my whole life! Which is crazy, considering I have amazing, supportive parents & people around me. Every day I not only think about what could be, but I continue to work on how to just BE. So I guess what I’m trying to say is, let’s try to not sell ourselves short. Let’s dream, and not be afraid to dream. Thanks for reading, and of course, for scrolling 🙂

Morning Reverie

09.15.17

oversized blazer beach editorial

Night bleeds into day. The hours melt together. I sway with the sea, lean into a reverie.

How many nights have you stayed out and lost track of time? Next thing you know day breaks. You feel one of two ways: really guilty yearning to wash yourself clean of the previous night’s debauchery, OR really alive and at peace, thankful for a brand new day. Here’s to you, daybreakers, to all those late nights and early sunrises that made you shine from within and beam with gratitude…

About the look – A blazer is a staple piece to have in your wardrobe, as it can be styled different ways and be worn all year-round. Here, an oversized blazer and boyish silhouette are offset with ladylike details – sparkly sequins, chic heels, pearl buttons. The Calvin Klein halter top adds a touch of sport, as I’m pretty obsessed with sportswear and have been incorporating it into my daily looks, either dressed up or dressed down. I should note, I just returned from SS18 New York Fashion Week and came back super inspired by all the runway fashions and badass street style, so stay tuned for more, and follow me on Instagram for my daily musings 🤳

Cherry Bomb – Valfre Bomber Jacket

Ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-cherry BOMB! Do you guys remember that song by The Runaways? Anyways, this cherry-red bomber jacket by Valfre is pretty amazing. I love the detail on the back and the color just pops, especially on a gloomy day. Yesi and I shot these photos at City View Garage in the Miami Design District, one of the coolest parking garages in Miami (the other one is 1111 Lincoln Road). With a distinctive exterior designed by renowned architects and artists, this garage’s colorful Dr. Seuss-like rooftop was sure to work well with my Valfre jacket and this cloudy day. I’ve even featured the colorful floor on my Instagram before, and many have asked for the exact address, so here you go: NE 38th between NE 1st Ave + North Miami Ave. But be warned, if you don’t have permission to shoot here and you go with a professional camera or changes of clothing, you will get kicked out…like us, shortly after these photos were taken hahaha
